Unable to update to NumXL 1.60

0

I download NumXL 1.60 from the main website, and when I started the installer,  it begins by notifying it will uninstall the old version, which I think it does, but doesn't complete the install for v 1.6. Instead it gives the error:

Error opening file for writing
\X12a\x12a.exe
Click retry

I have attempted this multiple times, but it seems the installer thinks there are elements still on my machine , as it offers the choice of "repair" or "uninstall"...neither of which work.

I have rebooted twice and attempted to uninstall with Windows...but nothing works.

  • Yes, we have confirmed this error on our side, and we are working to resolve it.

In the meanwhile, if you have this error, to install NumXL 1.60 (after the error occurred), you need to remove the "uninstall information" from the registry.

IMPORTANT: If you have not worked with the registry before, please stop here and contact our support personnel to walk you through the process via a remote session.

If you are comfortable working with windows registry editor, here's the steps:

    1. Open the registry editor (i.e. regedit)
    2. If you install NumXL for:
      1. Everyone : go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
      2. Only For me: go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
    3. Find NumXL folder, and delete it.
    4. Install NumXL 1.60 Now
