Question:
I have just upgraded to NumXL 1.65 HAMMOCK. I also entered my license key and activated it for my machine. Now, when I open Microsoft Excel, I get an error dialog box saying: "Error during the locality system initialization".
Furthermore, after I click OK few times, I looked at NumXL Toolbar: the icons are there but there is no label, and none of the NumXL functions are visible in the worksheet (#NAME!) or in the "Insert Function" dialog.
What is wrong? What am I missing here?
Answer:
It seems that the latest Windows updates aren't installed on your system. For Windows 7/8/8.1, the required update KB2999226 may be missing or broken.
First, using the Windows updates app (in the control panel), install the latest Windows updates for your system. You don't have to install any optional update(s).
In the event that the windows updates app is not working properly, then you can try to download this update yourself from Microsoft support site, and install it on your machine.
Important:
- On a 32-bit Windows machine, download and install the x86 universal runtime library update
- On a 64-bit Windows machine and a 32-bit Excel, you need to download and install the x86 version of the universal runtime library update.
- On a 64-bit Windows machine and a 64-bit Excel, you need to download and install the x64 version of the universal runtime library update.
- For the 64-bit Windows version, we recommend installing both the x86 and x64 versions of the universal c-runtime library updates.
