Question:
I am tax-exempt. How can I avoid paying sales tax or VAT?
Answer:
US Sales Tax
For most sales in the US, we do not charge a sales tax. However, our payment processor (FastSpring) will automatically collect sales tax in Alabama, Maine, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Tennessee in accordance with local state laws.
If you are a tax-exempt organization in one of these states, you can submit a tax reimbursement request to our payment processor at orders@fastspring.com. Be sure to include:
- Tax exempt form
- Order reference number (ex: SP######-####-#####)
EU VAT
EU countries will likewise automatically incur VAT (value-added tax). These include the following nations: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovak Republic, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
If you are an EU tax-exempt organization and have a valid VAT ID, you can simply enter it during checkout. Doing so should void any previously applied taxes.
