Creating a Histogram with Excel

In this video, we'll demonstrate how to create a histogram with the help of a simple user interface of the newly released version 1.58 (BAJA) of NumXL.

Scene 1:

Hello and welcome to a NumXL histogram tutorial. In this video we'll demonstrate how to create a histogram with the help of a simple user interface available starting in the version 1.58 of NumXL.

We'll be using a randomly generated data set for this example. First select an empty cell in your worksheet, then click on the descriptive statistics button in the NumXL toolbar. Choose the histogram plot icon.

Scene 2:

A function wizard pops up. For input data select your sample values.

Scene 3:

The output defaults to your selected cell in the worksheet. Once you select your data you can click on the options tab.

Scene 4:

Select a rule depending on the number of Bin's you want, note that the number of Bin's is recalculated each time you change the rule. Leave both cumulative and overlay normal distribution checked in the options section.

Scene 5:

Now click OK, and there you go a histogram table and plot is now in your worksheet.
